World Famous Tree House (earlier known as Quadruped Tree and Fraternal Monarch) Redwood Highway, 101, California near Leggett, 20 miles south of Gaberville, Calif., Mendocino County, Lilley Park (also known as Tree House Park), Piercy, California. This giant tree is estimated to have burned out 300 years ago, leaving four openings at the base, hence the first name "Quadruped". Later a Fraternal order was organized inside the tree and the name "Fraternal Monarch" was used. In 1933 Robert Ripley featured it as the tallest one-room house in the world. "Featured by Robert Ripley as the Tallest One-Room House in the World. Diameter 33 feet. Circumference at base 101 feet. Floor space 21 x 27 feet. Height of tree 250 feet. Age over 4,000 years. Hollowed by fire over 800 years ago, the tree is still vigorously growing, Believe it or not."
